The Tropicana is one of the original
classics the first showed up on the Las
Vegas Strip back in 1959. Located on the
south end of the Strip across the street
from the Luxor, it is now considered a
historical landmark, but that doesn't
mean its a your typical discount hotel.
In fact, its home to the longest running
show in Las Vegas. The famed "Folies
Berger" that is still a hot ticket to
this day, even though its been running
for nearly half a century. Very
impressive for sure.
Despite its age,
the Tropicana is still a first-class
resort and has become the place to go
for those who like to gamble in the
swimming pool. It is now famous for
their unique swim-up blackjack tables.
Surrounding the pool and outdoor resort
area are 5 acres of tropical paradise
with several lagoons, pools, and
waterfalls.
Because the resort's age, many find
it to be a great discount hotel to stay
at, when you consider the cost, compared
to other hotels in town. The location is
fabulous and the accommodations where
very impressive.
Additionally, the Tropicana offers
are five restaurants with cuisines
ranging from Japanese to American, to
Carribean.
We'd like to point out that the
amenities at the Tropicana are not as
abundant as you'll find in some of the
newer discount hotel properties.
Granted, they've done a tremendous job
renovating and keeping it modern,
although it just doesn't possess the
amenities that you would find across the
street at Mandalay Bay.
Anyhow, the Tropicana is a historic
classic that you should definately
experience if you want to go back in
time to see how Las Vegas used to be. We
can only hope that it doesn't get torn
down the way other have. |
