The Rio, names after the city in Brazil,
employs a fun, party-themed festival
atmosphere, and has won best buffet many
times for their famous Carnival World
Buffet. It is our favorite buffet in all
of Las Vegas. Many people aren't aware
that the Rio is an all-suite resort,
like the Venetian. In fact, the Rio was
the first all-suite resort in Las Vegas.
It is located less than a half mile
from the Strip with the other discount
hotels, and really has a unique neon
flair to it that cover the building.
While the Rio is one of our favorites,
its advisable to not stay here if you
have kids. This is a partying atmosphere
and families are better suited for
Treasure Island, Circus Circus, or
Excalibur.
Located less than a mile from the Las
Vegas Strip, the Rio is known for
attracting a younger clientele than most
other resorts in Las Vegas. In fact, the
resort discourages guests from bringing
their children to stay there. This is
because the Rio employs a Mardi Gras,
street party, Brazilian carnival type of
atmosphere, and the presence of children
could potentially put a damper on this
theme.
However, they should have thought
this through a little bit more, before
deciding to build what was voted "The
Best Buffet in Las Vegas" many times.
The Rio’s "Carnival World" Buffet is set
up like a self-serve food court, and has
just about every type of food and desert
you can think of. This obviously
attracts families, which isn’t
consistent with the theme they try to
employ, although it really doesn’t
create any problems.
The resort has over 2,500 suites
which range in size from approximately
600 square feet and up, and have the
very popular windows that reach from the
floor to the ceiling, giving way to
spectacular views.
The casino at the Rio covers more
than 120,000 square feet of gaming space
and we did pretty well at their house
slots, which they call "Parrot’s Perch".
In addition to having one of the most
exciting night clubs in Las Vegas, the
resort also has 4 pools, a full-service
spa, with steam rooms, and whirlpool
tubs. Outside, they put together a
man-made beach and lagoon to make you
feel like you’re at a tropical island.
Bottom line, if you want to come to
Vegas to party hard, then stay at the
Rio. |
